The role of women in Elizabethan England:

The role of women in Elizabethan England, was very limited. They had very clear expectations, the women had to be houswives and give birth to a child every two years. They were not allowed to enter a profession such as law, medicin, or politics.


Class distinctions in Elizabethan England:

There where many different levles of class for women in Elizabethan England, they include, The Nobility, The Gentry, The Yeomanry, and the Poor.

Entertainment in Elizabethan England:

Feasts, Banquets, Fairs, Plays, Mystery Plays, Dancing, Games and Sports.

Education in Elizabethan England:
Elizabethan Education was generally for boys of the Upper and Middle Classes. However, Upper Class girls, often members of the Nobility were also given and education. The monarchy in Elizabethan England:
The monarch of England during the Elizabethan Era was Queen Elizabeth I.

Love, Marriage and Courtship in Elizabethan England:
Marriage was often a political affair; courtly love was "dating" of a sort outside of marriage. Traditional courtly love consisted of the man writing poetry and such for the woman and giving her undue attention, while the woman pretends not to notice in the least. If the woman appreciated the man's advances, she would give him a token of affection, such as a glove or a handkerchief. This would then be carried with the man into battle or competitions as a good luck charm. Ideally, the courtship was never consummated, though the reality was often the opposite, especially as the level of the participants in society rose.

Social etiquette in Elizabethan England:
Elizabethan women would be taught a range of subjects and skills. Manners and etiquette were of prime importance, including how to curtsey. Music, dancing , riding and archery were also taught. These young girls were expected to act as servants to the Ladies of the castle - their duties would be to look after clothes and the assist ladies with dressing and coiffure. Women from the lower classes were also expected to obey the male members of their families without question. All Elizabethan women would be expected to marry, and would be dependant.
